| This is Abby My Tabby. She was a stray, until it got cold this year. | ![]() |
She is usually sitting somewhere out of the way, or sleeping on the foot of my bed or under it. That's why I don't have many pictures of her yet. She is getting more friendly. |

Abby came as a stray about a year and a half ago. At first I fed her outside. That didn't work because the neighbor's dog, ducks, geese, and turkey would come and run her off and take the food. I started letting her in the house to eat, but she would come just inside the door and would panic if I tried to shut the door. She gradually became more relaxed, but never came further than just inside the door. When it started getting cold this year, she came in, stood at the door and looked the place over (she had never done this before), hopped up in a chair and went to sleep. From there, she would only go outside if I picked her up and put her out. Soooo, me and Muffin have another member of the family. After a few weeks, she has really done a turn-around. At first, she didn't seem to know how to play or like to be loved. Now, she can't seem to get enough loving and she sleeps on the foot of my bed. Muffin seems to be a little more accepting of her, but only a little. I am curious, come Spring, if she will become an outside cat again. Time will tell. I will include more pictures when they are not so camera-shy. A very scary realization that I just recently became aware of is that there is a definite link between animal abuse as a child and child abuse as an adult.
